A carefully crafted day-by-day plan to experience the best of Manila without the stress. Tested and refined over dozens of trips.

Three days is the sweet spot for a first visit to Manila. It is enough time to experience the city's major highlights without the exhaustion that comes from trying to cram everything in. This itinerary has been refined through years of guiding friends, family, and fellow travelers through Metro Manila, and it balances history, culture, entertainment, and relaxation in a way that maximizes your experience while respecting your energy levels.

We have organized each day geographically to minimize travel time between attractions, and we have built in buffer time for the inevitable Manila traffic. The estimated budget for this itinerary (excluding accommodation and flights) is approximately PHP 5,000–8,000 per person, depending on your dining choices and which attractions you visit.

πŸ“… Day 1: Historic Manila β€” Intramuros, Rizal Park & Binondo
8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

Breakfast at CafΓ© Adriatico (Remedios Circle)

Start your Manila adventure at this beloved institution in the Malate district. Order the classic Filipino breakfast β€” garlic rice, longganisa (local sausage), and a perfectly fried egg. The cafΓ©'s colonial-era dΓ©cor sets the tone for a day of historical exploration.

9:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Intramuros Walking Tour

Begin at Fort Santiago, the citadel built by Spanish conquistador Miguel LΓ³pez de Legazpi, and follow the footsteps of national hero JosΓ© Rizal through his final imprisonment. Continue to Manila Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece rebuilt seven times, and walk the atmospheric cobblestone streets. For a unique twist, rent a bamboo bicycle from one of the tour operators near the main gate.

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

San Agustin Church & Museum

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the oldest stone church in the Philippines. The baroque architecture is stunning, but the real treasure is inside: intricate trompe-l'oeil ceiling paintings that create an illusion of three-dimensional depth. The attached museum houses a collection of religious art and colonial artifacts.

12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

Lunch in Binondo (Manila Chinatown)

Take a short Grab ride to Binondo, the world's oldest Chinatown. Head to Ongpin Street for authentic Chinese-Filipino cuisine. Our recommendations: fresh lumpia at Dong Bei Dumplings, noodle soup at Lan Zhou La Mien, and finish with hopia (Chinese pastry) from Eng Bee Tin. The narrow streets are a feast for the senses.

2:30 PM – 4:30 PM

National Museum Complex

All three buildings β€” the National Museum of Fine Arts, Natural History, and Anthropology β€” offer free admission. The Fine Arts museum is home to Juan Luna's massive "Spoliarium," while the Natural History building features a stunning Tree of Life structure in its atrium. Allow at least two hours to appreciate the collections.

5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Rizal Park & Manila Bay Sunset

End Day 1 with a leisurely walk through Rizal Park, visit the Rizal Monument, then head to the nearby Baywalk for one of Manila's legendary sunsets over Manila Bay. Grab dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants along Roxas Boulevard.

πŸ“… Day 2: Marine Adventures β€” Manila Ocean Park & Waterfront
8:30 AM – 9:30 AM

Early Breakfast & Travel to Manila Ocean Park

Have breakfast at your hotel and head to Manila Ocean Park early. The park opens at 10 AM on weekdays and 9 AM on weekends. Arriving early is crucial β€” you will beat the crowds and have the best experience at the Oceanarium before tour groups arrive. Pro tip: book your tickets online the night before to skip the entrance queue.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Oceanarium & Penguin Exhibit

Start with the Oceanarium β€” the 220-degree underwater tunnel is breathtaking in the morning when light filters through the water. Take your time here; the displays of Philippine marine biodiversity are genuinely educational. Then head to the Trails to Antarctica penguin exhibit while the colony is most active. The Humboldt penguins are irresistibly charming, and the climate-controlled exhibit provides a welcome break from Manila's tropical heat.

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

Sea Lion Show & Lunch

Catch the 12:30 PM Sea Lion Show β€” it is entertaining, educational, and one of the park's highlights. After the show, grab lunch at one of the park's food outlets. The portions are decent and the prices reasonable for a theme park, though we suggest eating a hearty breakfast to keep lunch light.

1:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Explore Remaining Attractions

Spend the afternoon exploring the All-Star Bird Show (check the schedule at the entrance), the World of Creepy Crawlies exhibit, and the DNA Museum with its immersive digital art installations. If traveling with kids, the Oceans of Fun indoor playground and Aqua Adventure water slides are perfect afternoon activities. The park closes at 6 PM, so pace yourself accordingly.

5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Sunset at SM by the Bay

After Manila Ocean Park, take a Grab to the nearby SM Mall of Asia complex. Head to the seaside area for another stunning Manila Bay sunset, browse the shops if you have energy, then enjoy dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants in the By the Bay area.

🎫 Don't Forget Your Ocean Park Tickets

Book online for the best bundle deals and skip the queue. Tickets from PHP 690 for the 8-in-1 package.

πŸ“… Day 3: Modern Manila β€” BGC, Makati & Departure
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Breakfast & Ayala Museum (Makati)

Start your final day with breakfast at Wildflour CafΓ© in Salcedo Village (their pastries are legendary), then visit the Ayala Museum for its famous diorama collection that brings Philippine history to life through miniature scenes. The gold collection on the upper floors is equally impressive.

11:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Salcedo Saturday Market or Legazpi Sunday Market

If your Day 3 falls on a weekend, do not miss these legendary food markets. Salcedo (Saturday) and Legazpi (Sunday) markets showcase the best of Filipino cuisine in an open-air setting. From lechon to puto bumbong, it is a food lover's paradise. On weekdays, head to Poblacion for brunch at one of the trendy cafΓ©s instead.

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Bonifacio Global City Exploration

Walk the art-lined streets of BGC, visit Bonifacio High Street for shopping, and explore the street art murals that have made this district Instagram-famous. If traveling with kids, consider a visit to the Mind Museum for interactive science exhibits, or simply enjoy the manicured parks and outdoor spaces that make BGC feel like a different world from the rest of Manila.

4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Farewell Dinner at Poblacion

End your Manila adventure in the buzzing Poblacion neighborhood of Makati. This former residential area has transformed into Manila's coolest dining and nightlife district, with rooftop bars offering panoramic city views. Try El Chupacabra for Mexican-Filipino fusion, or Lampara for elevated Filipino cuisine. It is the perfect way to toast an unforgettable three days in Manila.
